Agentic AI Drives Data Center Hardware Overhaul Beyond GPUs

The rise of agentic AI is forcing a systemic shift in data center hardware, moving the industry away from reliance on standalone GPUs toward integrated, heterogeneous Systems-on-Chips (SoCs). This transition is a direct response to the unique demands of agentic workflows, which require complex reasoning and task-switching that expose the limitations of pure parallel processing. Unlike previous AI models, which benefited from the brute-force power of GPUs for training, agentic systems thrive on the low-latency interplay between CPUs, GPUs, and Neural Processing Units (NPUs).
